Cross-Listing Time Cost Calculator

Reviewed for 2026, updated September 8, 2026.

Estimates the hours and dollars a reseller spends each month copying listings to extra marketplaces and delisting sold items by hand.

Your numbers

Your estimate

Duplicate work hours per month...
Value of that time per month...
Labor cost to cross-list one item...
Labor cost to clean up after one sale...

Estimates only. Assumptions are listed below, and you can change every input.

Listing an item once is real work: photos, measurements, a title that will actually be found. Listing it a second and third time on other marketplaces is mostly the same work again, plus a matching cleanup job every time something sells. That duplicate effort hides inside a normal day a few minutes at a time, which is why most resellers have no idea what it adds up to.

This calculator counts only the duplicate part. It multiplies the listings you create per week by the extra marketplaces and the minutes each copy takes, adds the delisting minutes per sale on every other platform, and converts the total into monthly hours at 52 weeks a year. The dollar figure uses whatever your hour is worth to you. It does not assume any tool removes this time completely; treat the hours as the ceiling of what better tooling or a tighter workflow could give back.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter how many new items you list in a typical week and how many marketplaces each one ends up on.
  2. Time yourself copying one listing to another marketplace and delisting one sold item, then enter those minutes. Rough averages are fine.
  3. Add your weekly sales and an hourly value, then read the monthly hours and the labor cost per cross-list and per sale.

What the math assumes

  • Counts only work beyond the first listing: copies to additional marketplaces, and delisting on the other platforms after a sale.
  • Assumes every new item goes to every marketplace you enter and every sale requires a delist on each of the others.
  • Converts weekly figures to monthly using 52 weeks divided by 12 months, about 4.33 weeks per month.
  • Uses your hourly value exactly as entered; it does not add taxes, overhead, or the value of listings you could have created instead.
  • Does not estimate how much a sync tool would save. The monthly hours are the upper bound any tool or workflow change could recover.

Frequently asked questions

Should I include the time for the first listing?

No. The first listing is work you would do even on a single marketplace. This tool isolates the extra time created by being on more than one, which is the part a sync workflow can actually change.

What if I only cross-list some of my inventory?

Enter only the items that get copied elsewhere as your weekly count, and only the sales of cross-listed items. The per-item and per-sale costs stay valid either way.

How do I use the result to judge a sync tool's price?

Compare the monthly value of your duplicate time with the tool's monthly fee, then discount for the time the tool still needs from you, such as reviewing imported listings. If the fee is a small fraction of the value, the math favors the tool. If it is close, the decision rests on oversell risk and consistency rather than hours.
